Making our house a home and learning to care for those I am given to love.
Hello! I am Elisabeth Young
Welcome to the blog! I would love to share just a bit about myself and why I am here: I am a homemaker, stay-at-home wife, health enthusiast, and blogger. I love learning, especially when it comes to from scratch cooking, managing my home, and caring for my family. My husband Alex and I live in North Texas and are renovating our sweet 1950s home. I enjoy working on our house and piecing together the countless aspects of home improvement. My main activities during the day include organizing the house, cooking nourishing meals, working on my blog, and spending as much time as I can with my husband. You can always expect that I have some kind of recipe, blog post, or home idea forming in my head.
My story
I grew up watching my mom preserve a bountiful harvest from our garden, make sourdough bread, and care for her family. Because of this, I gained interest in all things homemaking at an early age. Although I didn’t like squash, I loved raising dairy goats and learning to bring in and use an abundance of farm-fresh milk. Cutting flowers to make beautiful bouquets was my favorite break when I needed to be doing school. Learning instruments and playing with my homeschool band brought great joy to my heart. These things all wound up into my childhood dream of being a homemaker someday.
Fast forward to my college days: I was constantly doing assignments or at work trying (and succeeding!) to pay my way through college. I always enjoyed the times when I could pull myself away from homework and my job to go outside and walk through the pasture or talk to my best friend. After a while, my best friend became my boyfriend, who then became my fiancée, who finally became my husband. Once we were married, I stayed home instead of getting a job so that I could focus on caring for our home and finishing school. Now, I am still at home working to grow my blog and care for my husband. I am thankful to the Lord for the many opportunities that He has blessed me with that I may now share with you.
Purpose
I want to encourage other wives and homemakers in their work. Our position of caring for those the Lord gives us to love is important. Although important, it can be challenging to continue our work from day to day. Because of this challenge, I hope to simplify your life by offering delicious recipes for your family and ideas to cultivate your home. Let us find joy in the privileged work we are given. I am learning as I go, but I look forward to sharing this journey with each of you!
I hope my blog encourages you to try new things, love those around you, and live a simple, healthy lifestyle. Thanks for stopping by!
